Passion for adventure and leadership
Adventure Academy strive to create interest and inspire to adventure. We encourage more people to go out into nature and discover it on their own terms and abilities. As a representative of Adventure Academy, you are an important part of our values, and a role model for those you meet.
This Code of Conduct is designed to help you in your role as representative or instructor of Adventure Academy, and its connected activities.
This document is a living document where we continuously develop the content and together as fellow representatives of Adventure Academy feel a common ownership.
We have based the Friluftsfrämjandet’s Code of Conduct for two reasons. First, we share their values and have active cooperation in several areas. We have also been inspired by the Scout movement working with young people and we have therefor chosen to use their course material ”Safe Relations” for the areas where we work with young people.
You are a role model!
When you represent the Adventure Academy, you are an important role model for those you meet in your role. Your behavior and treatment are of great importance. With your commitment, your positive and professional attitude, you get everyone you meet to feel seen and welcome.
In your role, you will meet people with an open mind, in a mature and responsible manner, and will be aware of your own perceptions and prejudices. Everyone who represents the Adventure Academy and its activities must follow our common code of conduct and always strive to live up to our values.
Treat everyone with respect and dignity
As a representative of Adventure Academy, you treat everyone you meet with respect. Special treatment or discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnic origin or nationality, religion or other belief, sexual orientation, gender-crossing identity and expression, disability, age, political views or position in general does not fit within the Adventure Academy and its activities.
Your responsibility as a representative or instructor
Sometimes you may end up in situations where people are dependent on you. On such occasions, you need to take responsibility and never use your position for your own gain or to give other incorrect benefits. You must not abuse your position or trust.
Neutrality
As a representative of Adventure Academy, you are free to be connected to a political, religious or other idea-based organization. Adventure Academy, however, is an impartial and neutral organization and does not approve that you as a representative are active in contexts or organizations that directly oppose Advanryre Academy’s activities and values. As a representative or instructor for Adventure Academy and its activities, you must not act unfairly.
Communication
Communication and dialogue are important within Adventure Academy regardless of whether it is e-mail, social media or telephone. Write and read with a friendly tone and skip capitals, underlined text or bold text. This can be more easily misunderstood than you think.
Offensive treatment
Abusive treatment does not belong in Adventure Academy. The organisation encourages an open climate where we treat everyone well. If this does not happen, it is important that everyone takes responsibility when they perceive a negative behavior and gives feedback in a constructive manner to the person concerned or raises the issue with another responsible person within Adventure Academy. This applies, for example, to jargon, conversation climate, ruling techniques and business culture.
Adventure Academy wants to prevent and combat sexual harassment in all its forms against adults, young people and children. Everyone has the right to be treated with respect and develop in a safe environment.
We are inspired by Scout’s preventive work on these issues. Learn more about this at: www.tryggamoten.se. If you are active in a business with young people, you are expected to have completed this course.
Alcohol and drugs
When you are active in your role, that is, during ongoing activity, zero tolerance applies to alcohol and drugs. During dinners and social events where alcohol is served, it is important that you as a representative are moderate and can live up to the code of conduct.
Adventure Academy safety regulations
Adventure Academy always puts people’s safety first. As a representative of Adventure Academy, it is important that you exercise your leadership in a way that you are trained for and have the skills to handle. You also take part, and follow the guidelines and instructions regarding safety and emergency preparedness. If an emergency situation occurs, you will always contact 112 and then Adventure Academy’s CEO or Chairman of the Board.
Environment
Adventure Academy safeguards the environment and is a climate-conscious organization. We work continuously to develop and improve our working methods and our routines in order to minimize the organisation’s environmental impact in the best way possible. As a leader, you set a good example when planning and conducting activities and activities. Think of energy consumption, choice of means of transport, recycling and other ways to minimize the impact of the business. Adventure Academy encourages car-sharing to and during our activities. All in order for us to participate and contribute to a better long-term environment.
You are important
As a representative of Adventure Academy and its activities, you are an important part of inspiring others to adventure. Thank you for your commitment – you are important!
