ADVENTURE ACADEMY TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Important Information regarding Participation in Adventure Academy
By registering for Adventure Academy, the participant confirms that they are aware of the following:
The core philosophy of Adventure Academy is generally to make participants more safety-conscious in connection with adventurous activities. Our instructors are safety-focused and possess expert knowledge within their respective fields. However, large parts of the training take place in dynamic, unpredictable natural environments, where injuries may occur despite high safety measures.
Our training is adventurous, but we do not compromise on safety.
We follow the Swedish Consumer Agency's (Konsumentverket) guidelines for the purchase of services; see Hallå Konsument. This implies, among other things, that we as the organizer must conduct a risk assessment and adapt the safety information so that the participant can understand and assess the risks associated with the activity and furthermore protect themselves against these risks; conduct systematic and preventative safety work; verify that the equipment used is safe; and detect safety deficiencies, implement measures, and introduce safety routines.
Insurance Coverage
Verify that you have home insurance (hemförsäkring) that includes liability coverage (ansvarsskydd) (most Swedish home insurance policies include this). Also, verify that you have private accident insurance (olycksfallsförsäkring).
Contact your insurance company and explicitly ask: "Does my insurance cover participation in Adventure Academy, including the elements included in the course curriculum, where some activities may be classified as high-risk?"
The organizer does not provide any personal insurance for the participant and cannot be held financially responsible for medical expenses, rescue operations, repatriation, or material damage occurring during or in connection with the training.
The Participant's Own Responsibility and Risk Awareness
The participant is aware that adventurous activities in outdoor environments involve inherent risks that cannot be fully eliminated. By accepting these terms, the participant confirms that they have received and understood the safety information, and can independently assess and manage the risks associated with the various elements of the training.
All participants are obligated to follow the organizer’s instructions as well as applicable safety regulations, and must not violate Swedish or international law. If the participant fails to follow these regulations, we reserve the right to expel the participant from the training without any refund of the registration fee.
Participants are required, before and during the course, to:
-
Inform us of any injuries, ongoing medical evaluations, allergies, or chronic illnesses.
-
Inform us of any illness that may pose a risk to life and health, what medication (if any) is being used and how, as well as where the medication is stored.
-
Not consume illicit substances under Swedish law, and not abuse alcohol.
-
Protect and care for the environment and nature in which the training is conducted.
-
Guarantee a 100 percent attendance rate based on the specified course curriculum.
We reserve the right to suspend participants from the course if they do not follow the above rules or otherwise act irresponsibly towards other participants, leaders, or the environment we operate in.
The participant understands that additional costs may arise during the training. The core fee of the training covers instruction, guidance, and the loan of certain safety equipment. In addition to this fee, there will be ongoing expenses for which the student is personally responsible and must finance, such as transport, catering, clothing, and personal outdoor equipment (e.g., boots, backpack, and sleeping bag) required to complete the training in a safe manner.
Intellectual Property and Media Rights
Adventure Academy holds an exclusive, unrestricted right of first publication for all material (texts, images, and all forms of live or mobile media) depicting the content, exercises, and examinations at Adventure Academy. Adventure Academy has the right to distribute and use all material in relevant contexts, marketing, commercial contexts, social media, and all types of existing and future media channels, without financial compensation, for the foreseeable future, in an unlimited number of countries, and across all media types.
Adjustments
During the training, we may, without prior notice, be forced to cancel a meeting, a part of a course, an examination, or alter all or parts of the course content if any of the following events occur:
-
One of our course leaders falls ill, and we are unable to find a replacement.
-
A key external organizer cancels their obligations.
-
The number of participants falls below six people.
Force Majeure: Force majeure is generally defined as extraordinary and unpredictable events that constitute an obstacle beyond the control of the parties. If force majeure is deemed to exist, the party invoking the clause may be released from liability for breach of contract, such as non-fulfillment of a delivery obligation.
We will immediately notify participants in the event of cancelled courses or significant changes to the course content.
Exclusivity, Partnership, and Sponsorship
-
Obligation to use partner products: The participant is obligated during the training to use the products provided or designated by the organizer. The partners and sponsors with whom Adventure Academy cooperates throughout the year are the only ones allowed to be profiled.
-
Prohibition of external collaborations: The participant may not enter into, sign, or maintain their own commercial collaborations with non-approved partners or competing brands during the academic year.
-
Prohibition of external products: The participant may not wear, expose, or advertise "external" sponsored products during the training period, nor during their associated summer adventure.
-
Breach of contract: Violation of this exclusivity clause is considered a material breach of contract towards the partner collaborations financing the training. It constitutes direct grounds for immediate suspension from the training without a refund, and may lead to liability for damages if the organizer suffers financial loss in relation to its partners.
Governing Law and Disputes
-
This agreement shall be governed by Swedish law. Disputes arising in connection with this agreement shall, in the first instance, be sought resolved through negotiation between the parties. If the parties cannot reach an agreement, the dispute shall be settled by a Swedish court of law.
