Adventure Academy gives the participant the opportunity to learn how to plan and implement their dream adventure up in the Nordic mountain environment. Most training opportunities are held in Copenhagen, where we meet approximately once a month. All participants complete a summer adventure in the North on their own during the summer.
CORE VALUES
Årets Äventyr and its activities work to create interest and inspire adventure. That more people go out into nature and discover it on their own terms and abilities. As a representative of Årets Äventyr and its various activities, you are an important part of this and a role model for those you meet.
This code of conduct has been developed to help you in your role as a representative or instructor for Årets Äventyr and its activities such as Adventure Academy Swe and Dk and Adventure Academy Generation.
This governing document is a living document, where we continuously develop the content and together as representatives of Årets Äventyr and its operation feel a common sense of ownership.
We have taken the Friluftsfrämjandet's code of conduct as a starting point for two reasons. On the one hand, we share their values, and on the other hand, we have an active collaboration in several areas. We have also been impressed by the Swedish scout movement's work with young people and have chosen to use their course material Safe Meetings for the areas where we have young people.
When you represent the Adventurers of the Year and Adventure Academy, you are an important role model for those you meet in your role. Your behavior and attitude are very important. With your commitment, your positive attitude and your professional attitude, you make everyone you meet feel welcome and welcome.
In your role, you meet everyone with an open mind, in a mature and responsible way and are aware of your own perceptions and prejudices. All who represent the Adventurers of the Year and its activities shall follow our common code of conduct and always strive to live up to our values.
As a representative of Årets Äventyr, you treat everyone you meet with respect. Special treatment or discrimination due to gender, ethnic origin or nationality, religion or spiritual belief, sexual orientation, gender-transcending identity and expression, handicap, age, political stance or position in general do not fit into Årets Äventyr and its activities.
Sometimes it can happen that you end up in situations where people are dependent on you. In such cases, you must take responsibility and never exploit your position for your own gain or to give others improper advantages. You must not abuse your position or trust.
As a representative of Årets Äventyr you are welcome to be associated with a political, religious or other ideological organization. Adventurer of the Year is an impartial and neutral organization and does not approve that you, as a representative, are active in contexts or organizations that directly oppose the activities and values of Adventurer of the Year. As a representative or instructor for the Adventures of the Year and its activities, you must not act disloyally.
Communication and dialogue are important within Årets Äventyr regardless of whether it is e-mail, social media or telephone. Write and read in a friendly tone and skip capital letters, underlined text or bold text. This can, more easily than you think, be misunderstood as rude.
Abusive treatment does not belong in Adventures of the Year. The company encourages an open climate, where we treat everyone well. If this does not happen, it is important that everyone takes responsibility when they perceive negative behavior and gives feedback in a constructive way to the person concerned or takes the matter up with another person responsible within the Adventures of the Year. This applies, for example, to jargon, conversation climate, management techniques and business culture.
This year's Adventurers want to prevent and discourage sexual harassment in all its forms against adults, young people and children. Everyone has the right to be treated with respect and to develop in a safe framework.
We are inspired by the scouts' preventive work with these problems. Learn more about this at: www.tryggamoten.se. If you are active in an activity with children, you are expected to have completed this course.
When you are active in your role, i.e. during ongoing activity, zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs applies. At dinners and social events where alcohol is served, it is important that you as a representative are moderate and able to live up to the code of conduct.
Årets Äventyr always put people's safety first. As a representative of Årets Äventyr it is important that you exercise your leadership in a way that you are trained to and have the skills to handle. You also participate in and follow guidelines and instructions regarding security and crisis preparedness. If there is an emergency, you should always contact 112 first and then the managing director or board chairman for the Årets Äventyr.
Årets Äventyr protect the environment and are a climate-conscious organization. We continuously work to develop and improve our way of working and our routines in order to minimize the organization's environmental impact as much as possible. As you lead by example, when you plan and carry out operations and activities. Think about energy consumption, choice of means of transport, recycling and other ways to minimize the company's impact. This year's Adventurers encourage carpooling to and during our activities. All together so that we can participate and contribute to a better long-term environment.
As a representative of Årets Äventyr and its activities, you are an important part of inspiring others to adventure. Thank you for your engagement – you are important!
